Best Performance

Following the shock at not qualifying for the World Cup four years ago, Netherlands started their qualification for Qatar 2022 disastrously, losing 2-4 to Turkey in their opening game, but 7 wins from their next 9 games saw them pip the Turks to top spot and automatically make it to the World Cup. The Netherlands have never won the World Cup, though have been runners up three times, most recently in 2010, when they were defeated by Spain, whilst the 2014, they were knocked out in the semi finals by Argentina on penalty kicks. They experienced a disappointing European Championships last year by their standards; after topping their group with three wins out of three, they were knocked out by the Czech Republic in the Round of 16.
