Education City is home to some of the world’s leading universities situated just outside of Doha in Al Rayyan. Due to the used to by university athletic teams as well as the Qatar Women’s football team after the World Cup, it hosted some major matches after opening in 2020, such as the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, which Bayern Munich triumphed in, as well as some 2020 AFC Champions League matches before going on to host 5 matches in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.
