The current World Cup champions qualified from their group with relative ease, finishing 6 points clear of Ukraine, though they did stumble a little, drawing twice at home, and they may be seething from a poor European Championships by their standards, winning only one of their four games, including a draw against Hungary, and being forced into extra time against Switzerland despite leading by two goals with 15 minutes to go where they were eventually dumped out at the Round of 16 stage on penalties. Their inconsistency continued; after winning the Nations League in the summer of 2021 with a win over Spain, they went on to pick up only two points from their opening 4 Nations League matches this summer. It will be interesting to see which French side turns up this winter.
Player to Watch
In a team full of superstars, eyes are still consistently on the 23 year old who has been playing for his nation for over 5 years already. He was won the last 5 league titles in France, including one with Monaco, and was the Ligue 1 top goalscorer for the last 4 seasons. He is close to already breaking into the top 10 goalscorers of all time for his nation, and will surely be looking to better the three goals he scored in the last World Cup four years ago where he was part of the Dream Team.
